• Dan Morton

My name is Dan Morton, agency owner. I started my career in the motor vehicle industry in 1986 working for my mother Jo as a “motor vehicle messenger”, a notary that interfaces with PennDOT. JO and I grew our notary business from a small desk in the PennDOT building to four notary stores throughout Pa. and 20 employees. I served as general manager from high school to 1996 at the notary job.

In 1996, with no insurance experience, I passed the property and casualty licensing test, and opened DJM Insurance Agency. The first carrier in the door was Progressive Insurance, which continues to be an anchor for the agency today. Along the way the Agency has picked up various other carriers, including Hartford Insurance, Hagerty Insurance, Friends Cove Mutual and various others. In July of 1999 we opened a branch office, currently run by our newest agent, Lorri Deavor.

The most rewarding part of being an agent is having the proper coverage with a client at the time of a loss.

I am happily married with three children and a grandchild. I am an avid outdoorsman and motorcyclist, spending much of my free time on motorcycles exploring the mountainous coal regions of central Pa. I also volunteer as fire chief at a local fire station. When not riding, I volunteer my time either coaching youth rugby for Cumberland Valley or serving the Silver Spring Community Fire Company. I currently serve as Deputy Chief of the department, as well as training officer. I personally respond to between 120 and 150 incidents a year in Silver Spring Township and surrounding communities. How many other insurance agents can boast they will bring a firetruck to your front door?

In 2001 we brought aboard a customer service rep in the Mechanicsburg store, Karen Turnbaugh, who has proven to be a genuine asset to the agency.

  • Lorri Deavor

Greetings, my name is Lorri Deavor, Manager/Producer. I started by career in the motor vehicle industry in 2003 working as a Customer Service Rep/Notary for Pa Auto License Brokers.

In 2011, after several years of understudy, I passed the property and causalty licensing test, and was presented with the opportunity to run the Lewistown office of DJM Insurance. I enjoy what I do and I like interacting with my customers to solve their insurance needs. I also like that I learn something new everyday.

I am happily married to a wonderful guy and I have two great children. I am an avid muscle car person. On weekends in the summer, you will find my husband and I at car shows around the area with our Chevy Nova. I am also very involved with my daughter's majorette team and I love to go to competitions and watch her perform.

In 2010, I was diagnosed with Breast cancer. I am happy to say that I am a 3 year survivor and I look forward to staying that way. Thanks to my awesome doctors, my great friends, and my loving family, I found the strength and determination to fight and I won. I am so happy to be given a second chance. I try to live my life to the fullest and I live day by day
